To avoid adding clutter, you could get your mom some fresh flowers (from 1-800-flowers) and a Hallmark eCard and call it good. OR you can mix things up a bit this year and give her…

1.  Something She Can Do

I am a firm believer in experiences over things. Why not treat your mom to a fun day?  You can take her to:

  • a museum
  • the theater
  • a sporting event
  • an art exhibit
  • the zoo or aquarium
  • the movies

Or, better yet, help her check something off her bucket list. Perhaps she’s always wanted to go ziplining, skydiving, or bungee jumping. As long as you are brave enough, you can join her for a once in a lifetime experience.

2.  Something She Can Eat/Drink

Food is the ultimate clutter-free gift. Think outside of the box (literally) when giving your mom food for Mother’s Day. Instead of treating her to a single meal at a restaurant, you can purchase a week’s (or more) worth of meals, and have them delivered right to her doorstep. HelloFresh is a subscription-based meal service (which you are free to pause or cancel at any time). Here’s how it works:

  • Visit their website
  • Choose your meal plan based on your dietary preferences, family size, & schedule. You can choose from their classic, veggie, and family plans.
  • HelloFresh will deliver your meals straight to your doorstep in specially designed boxes with isolating wool, ice packs, and cooling material to ensure that everything arrives perfectly cold.
  • You can pause, modify, or cancel your subscription at any time.

As a special bonus, my lovely readers (aka you) will receive two FREE MEALS from HelloFresh when you click on this link. Skip the store lines & forget takeout. Get 2 free meals when you try HelloFresh! Eat fresh & healthy – Click here!

Alternatively, if your mom really doesn’t like to cook, a fruit bouquet makes a wonderful Mother’s Day gift. ( a sister company of 1-800-flowers) delivers beautiful edible arrangements with same-day delivery to most areas. Not only will the gift of a fruit bouquet not add clutter, it will be like getting two gifts in one. A work of art that you can eat! Enjoy 20% Off sitewide on fresh fruits arrangements from Fruit Bouquets by! Use code FRUITNOW (offer expires May 30, 2017).

3.  Something She Will Wear

Does your mom (like me) hate to go clothes shopping? Would she rather go naked than step foot in the mall? (Sorry for the visual). Good news, you can give her the gift of her very own personal online stylist along with a personalized shopping experience from the comfort of her own home with Stitch Fix. Stitch Fix is an online styling service that delivers a truly personalized shopping experience, just for you {er..your mom}. Fill out your Style Profile and a personal stylist will handpick pieces to fit your tastes, needs, and budget—and mail them directly to your door. Each box contains five items of clothing, shoes, and accessories for you to try on at home. Keep what you love, send the rest back in a prepaid USPS envelope. Shipping and returns are free—even for exchanges!

Here are three super easy ways to send a Stitch Fix gift card:

PRINT-AT-HOME: Print a gift card at home or work, then add a handwritten note.

E-MAIL: Add a personal note and send your gift card immediately – or on the day of your choice.

(SNAIL) MAIL: Send your gift card the old-fashioned way. Free delivery in 2-5 business days. (Last day to order mail gift cards to be delivered by Mother’s Day is Sunday, May 7th).

I just signed up for my very first “fix” in order to build my Spring Capsule Wardrobe. Stay tuned for an honest review and unboxing of my first shipment!

PS. This Mother’s Day gift idea can be considered “clutter-free” as long as mom agrees to the 1-in-1-out rule!

4.  Something She Can Read/Listen To

Amazon is my absolute favorite place for clutter-free Mother’s Day gifts. You can give your mom the gift of Amazon Prime, Shop Amazon – Give the Gift of Amazon Prime which will not only give her free 2-day shipping on Amazon purchases (with no minimum order size), but she will also have access to Prime’s library of thousands of movies and tv shows (for free).

If your mom already has an Amazon Prime membership, consider giving her an Amazon gift card which she can use for anything she wants!

Does your mom love to read? If you’d like to fuel her love of books without adding clutter, why not give her a Kindle Fire or a Kindle Paperwhite along with a Kindle Unlimited subscription? Join Amazon Kindle Unlimited 30-Day Free Trial

Finally, if your mom is a music connoisseur, perhaps an Amazon Music subscription is just what she needs. Try Amazon Music Unlimited 30-Day Free Trial

5.  Something That Will Save Her Time

Let’s face it, today’s moms are busy. Between balancing being a wife, raising kids, and working a full or part-time job, (Even stay-at-home moms have jobs) moms have a lot to do! Why not ease the burden for the mom in your life by giving her the gift of a little extra time in her day? Basically, you can offer (or hire someone else) to do anything which she currently does herself. Here are some ideas to get you started:

  • House cleaning
  • Professional organizing service
  • Car detailing
  • Yard service
  • Transportation to and from errands/appointments (great gift for elderly moms)
  • Gutter cleaning
  • Laundry service
  • Handyman service

6.  Something She Will Appreciate

There are many clutter-free Mother’s Day gifts you can give to others in honor of your mom. For example, you can donate to her favorite charity or plant a tree in her name.

Another good idea for a gift that will actually help reduce clutter is to create a photo book using a digital service like Shutterfly or the photo centers of your local drugstore. (CVS, Walgreens, and Walmart all offer services to create your own photo books). When the photo book is complete, encourage your mom to let go of the hard copies of the pictures you used.

I don’t know a single mom who wouldn’t appreciate a quiet, relaxing, clutter-free day at a local spa. Contact the day spas in your area to see if they offer Mother’s Day specials. I’ll bet most of them do!

7.  Something She Can Learn

If your mom loves to learn new things, you can sign her up for lessons in art, music, cooking, dance, pottery and more. Chances are if she’s interested in it, there is a class for it.

If you have a mom who loves to workout or has been wanting to start, sign her up for a 30-day free trial of Daily BurnIf she loves it, she can keep it for $14.95 per month (which you will, of course, pay for, right?). The best thing about Daily Burn is that it is an online streaming service, so your mom will be able to workout anywhere at anytime. Daily Burn has programs ranging from beginner to advanced, including pilates, yoga, and barre.   Get 1 Month COMPLETELY FREE + save 10% on your first 3 months at DailyBurn! (Code automatically applied at checkout!)

WARNING: Only give your mom the gift of a workout program if she either currently exercises or has (recently) expressed an interest in doing so. Otherwise, you run the risk of her getting the wrong idea!

Happy Mother’s Day!
