Browned Butter

Equipment

  • 1 Sauce Pan
  • 1 Rubber Spatula
  • 1 Air-tight Container

Notes

  1. Put butter in a medium sized sauce pan on medium-low heat. Stir occasionally with a rubber spatula or wooden spoon. Once the better melt, it will bubble and foam. Continue to stir and cook, as butter turns from yellow to amber in color. The butter is ready when you have brown specks formed at the bottom of the pan. The specks should rise to the top of them foam and you should have a nutty aroma. 
  2. Remove pan from hear and let cool for 15-20 minutes before using. When you transfer butter from pan, make sure to use a rubber spatula to scrape all the brown specks from bottom of pan. This is where are all delicious flavor is!
  3. Butter can be stored in an airtight container if you don't plan to use it right away.
